  • European Commission - Directorate-General Competition (DG COMP) (Feb 2024 - Present) – Application & Cloud Architect..
    • Selecting and/or adapting the tech stack for existing and new projects.
    • Providing PoCs and implementing new features, in the context of one of the DG's teams.
  • CurrencyFair/Zai (Dec 2021 - Feb 2024) – Lead Engineer.
    • Lead design development on defined API collections and support all Technical discussions within their group.
    • Support Product Owners in defining proper requirements and technical details for the integration of projects, following company architectures and standards.
    • Architect systems and services following best practices, create shareable artifacts for these designs.
    • Manage, coach and develop a Delivery Team of Engineers to ensure high engagement, technical curiosity and collaborative culture in their teams.
  • European Commission (Mar 2021 - Dec 2021) – Java team architect. Existing systems/services integration and enhancement, plus new projects analysis and implementation.
  • Currency Fair (Jun 2018 - Mar 2021) – End-to-end implementation of existing/new product features, aimed at B2C and B2B.
  • PublicPro (May 2017 - Jun 2018) – Technical coordination for the implementation of a micro-services based application, responsible for handling the public sector's procurement work-flow.
  • MADIS European Parliament Members' Administration Information System (May 2017 - November 2017) – Built custom tool, facilitating migration between platform version database models. Built Use Cases UI screens, as defined by the European Parliament.
  • CERIF Reporting Tool for the H2020 RICH Observatory (May 2017 - November 2017) – Refactoring, customization and integration into the RICH observatory site of an existing, web-based, CERIF entity report & visualization application.
  • H2020 AURORA “Advanced Ultraviolet Radiation and Ozone Retrieval for Applications” (Nov 2016 - Jul 2017) – Design and implementation of a J2EE based REST API, on top of a GIS database, as well as an end-user web based portal..
  • Scriptum (Jul 2016 - Jan 2017) – Refactoring & re-implementation of the original, web-based, SCRIPTUM electronic protocol platform, to cover the specific needs of the National Self-Employeed Professionals Organization (OAEE).
  • H2020-EU.3.7 City.Risks. "Avoiding and mitigating safety risks in urban environments" (Sep 2015 - Dec 2016) Design and implementation of a J2EE based REST API, on top of a GIS database. Design of the necessary software infrastructure, facilitating service creation by project partners.
  • FP7/ICT c-Space "An affordable tool to turn the space surrounding us into a creative experience" (Nov 2013 - Jun 2016) Design and implementation of:
    • a GIS enabled database, storing spatially/temporally synchronized video and 3D object data.
    • HTTP REST based retrieval/storage services.
    • End-user web c-Space Portal.
    • Android modules for media content spatio-temporal tagging and upload.
  • DSpace@HEAL (Feb 2012 - May 2016) Implemented the Digital Repositories (Libraries) for member Institutes of the Hellenic Academic Libraries Link.
  • CRIS (Sep 2013 - Jan 2015) Design and implementation of a web-based Current Research Information System (CRIS) for the National Documentation Centre, allowing read/write access to the CERIF model entities and work-flows.
  • Reserve Officer, Special Forces Command, Hellenic Army (Aug 2003 - Feb 2005) Graduated top of the class from Reserve Officers Training Course. Served as Platoon Commander. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant upon discharge from service. Certified Static Line Paratrooper.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

Reads a lot about the aviation, defense and military sector. Gets frequently whooped during boxing sparring sessions. When not getting punched at, he takes tango & jazz piano lessons with his wife. Last, but not least, spends time with baby daughter.
